Transition Services
At our center, we believe everyone deserves the chance to live life on their own terms. That’s why we’re here—to help people with physical and mental disabilities gain the skills, confidence, and support they need to live more independently. Whether it’s finding a job, learning daily life skills, or transitioning into a new home, we walk alongside each person every step of the way. With personalized support, real-world training, and a strong sense of community, we’re not just providing services—we’re empowering people to build the life they want
Independent Living Skill Training
At Independent Rights and Resources, we believe independence starts with the right skills and support. Our Independent Living Skills Training program helps individuals with physical and mental disabilities build confidence in daily tasks, from cooking and budgeting to navigating transportation and managing healthcare. We provide hands-on guidance tailored to each person’s needs, empowering them to take control of their lives and make their own choices. Whether you’re learning new skills or strengthening existing ones, we’re here to support you every step of the way. Independence isn’t just a goal—it’s a journey, and we’re honored to walk it with you.
Transportation
At Independent Rights and Resources, we understand that reliable transportation is essential for independence. That’s why we provide bus passes to individuals with disabilities, helping them access work, medical appointments, social activities, and other essential services. Our goal is to remove transportation barriers so that everyone has the freedom to engage with their community and pursue their goals. Whether you need assistance applying for a pass or understanding local transit options, our team is here to help you get where you need to go.
Information & Referral
Finding the right support can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. At Independent Rights and Resources, we connect people with physical and mental disabilities to the resources they need to live independently. Whether you’re looking for housing assistance, job training, healthcare services, or disability benefits, we’re here to guide you. Our team listens to your needs and helps you navigate the options available, so you can make informed decisions that fit your life. Independence starts with the right information—let us help you find the support that’s right for you.
Peer Support
At Independent Rights and Resources, we believe that shared experiences create stronger communities. Our Peer Support Program connects individuals with disabilities to mentors who have firsthand experience navigating the challenges of independent living. Whether it’s advice on daily life, encouragement through challenges, or simply having someone who understands, peer support provides a safe space for growth, learning, and empowerment. Through one-on-one mentoring and group discussions, we foster a supportive environment where individuals can share knowledge, build confidence, and develop the skills needed to live independently. You’re not alone—connect with our peer support network today!
Housing
Finding safe, accessible, and affordable housing is a key step toward independence. At Independent Rights and Resources, we assist individuals with disabilities in securing housing that meets their needs, whether it’s finding a new home, applying for housing assistance programs, or learning essential independent living skills. Our team provides guidance on navigating housing options, budgeting for rent and expenses, and connecting with resources that promote self-sufficiency. We believe that everyone deserves a place to call home and the opportunity to live with dignity and autonomy.
Advocacy
At Independent Rights and Resources, we are dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities gain the skills, confidence, and opportunities needed to live independently and contribute to their communities. Our Community Work Program (CWP) provides hands-on job training, career development, and workplace support to help individuals build essential skills and secure meaningful employment. Through this program, participants gain real-world experience in a supportive environment, empowering them to achieve greater self-sufficiency. In addition, our Advocacy Program ensures that individuals with disabilities have a voice in their communities. We provide self-advocacy training, legal rights education, and support in navigating systems like housing, transportation, and employment. Our team also works with policymakers and local organizations to promote accessibility, inclusion, and equal opportunities for all. Together, we can create a world where independence and inclusion are possible for everyone!
